Friendship Bridge is a nonprofit organization that supports women in Guatemala through education and microfinance. We are based in Lakewood Colorado but have more than 20,000 clients in Guatemala. About 25% of our clients are artisans, specializing in beautiful textiles.
In April, we will be hosting our annual fundraising event in Denver. I am looking for someone who can demonstrate back strap weaving as tradition in Guatemala. Or even foot loom weaving. We nee dsomeone who specializes in backstrap or footloom weaving that could demonstrate for a few hours to our audience. We have many people attending who are VERY interested in this art and the culture behind it.
Our event is April 24, and we would be looking for a few weavers from 5:30-7:30p.m. (arrive at 4:30p.m. to set up, would pack up after 7:30p.m. when our formal presentation on stage starts). I would love for them to simply be weaving throughout our social hours – while people are munching on appetizers, bidding on silent auction and shopping at our Guatemalan marketplace. I am specifically looking for people who can weave in the tradition of our Guatemala clients and be able to answer the odd question that a guest might have. I’ve attached a few pictures of our clients just to give you an idea. For more information, email Tori at firstname.lastname@example.org.
