Antique Knitting, Anyone?

If you are interested in getting a knitting study group off the ground, please join other interested Guild members during the break at the September meeting so we can shake out some of the preliminary matters: where and when to meet and how often to meet.

It also would be helpful for you to join the Jock Knitting Study Group on Facebook: as an easy method to collaborate.

I suggest as a topic of study for the first year: deciphering and executing vintage or antique knitting patterns. I’ve browsed a couple of great collections available online: The Antique Pattern Library ( and the Knitting Reference Library at (

Sale of Weaver’s Tools and Equipment

Weaver’s/Quilters/Spinners Estate Sale

The sale was a great success and made a lot of money for the guild, thanks to hard work by many members, including Cheryl Nachtrieb, Annie Scherer, and Judy Lepthien! Sorry you missed it, or congratulations on your finds!

A non-member’s family generously allowed us to hold an estate sale for their mom’s fiber equipment. There was large and small equipment as well as accessories for weavers, spinners, and those who sew. The guild got 40% of anything that sold while we were there!

The date by which you should submit contributions for the September newsletter is August 27.
This might include samples, photos of your current work, articles about topics you think we all might find of interest, drafts you like, and design problems and how you’ve solved them. Jefferson County Fair Demonstration Opportunity!!!

Hello everyone!
I am letting you know about the above County Fair — scheduled for next week the 10th thru the 13th

The demonstration times are as follows:
Thursday, August 10 : 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Friday, August 11: 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 12: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 13: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Carol and I are planning on Saturday morning/early afternoon.
I have an email in to my contact asking about parking passes/fair passes.
