Plan Now to Renew Your Stash!

Posted by on Dec 27, 2013 in News

All stashes need to be stripped of nonessential, uninteresting, unloved yarn and equipment periodically. And, of course, they need to re-supplied with inspiring new yarn and magazines and books from everyone else’s stash!

Now is your opportunity to do both–sell stuff (talk to Carol Garnand) and buy stuff (bring your cash and checkbook!). All this excitement will happen at the January, 2014, meeting, at TACtile.

  • Stash Realignment Sale (Member-to-Member Sale and Silent Auction Information)
  • Special Class for Non Weavers with Peg MacMorris: Introduction to Weaving Using the Rigid Heddle Loom
  • Food Donation–RMWG January food donation will go to EFFA (Emergency Family Food Assistance) in Boulder County. In light of the flooding and hardship of Boulder County (which includes communities like Jamestown, Longmont, Lyons, and Left-Hand Canyon) it seems appropriate to direct these donations to communities hard hit and in need of more support. Boxes will be placed in the back end of a car parked ground floor near the door of Tactile at the Dec meeting for donations. If you would like to learn more about this wonderful organization and what goods they are accepting, here’s the link for their website:

Fiber Show Call for Entries

Posted by on Dec 6, 2013 in News

Call For Entry – Contemporary Fiber Exhibition (Lakewood, CO) – Entry Deadline Jan 6, 2014

UNRAVEL”ED! FIBER RE-IMAGINED is a 40 West Arts juried exhibition celebrating the textured realm of textile. 40W invites artists to explore techniques with fiber to create fine art expressions in non-traditional ways. Pushing the limits and unraveling tradition to arrive at the cutting edge of fiber art—that’s the the focus of this show. Possibilities are endless. . .artwork may include the use of textiles, string, yarn, wire, or the broad spectrum of recycled materials—or something we’ve yet to consider! Works may incorporate a number of textile techniques (woven, knitted, or crocheted metal, woven bamboo, handmade paper, wearables, beads, embroidery, quilting, etc.).

This juried exhibition will kick off early February 2014 (Feb. 4) and run through the month. The show will run for three or four consecutive weeks with weekday afternoon open gallery hours (Tuesday-Saturday 1-4pm), plus an opening event the first Friday in February (Feb. 7) from 4-7pm.

Entry Deadline January 6, 2014.
